Photons

There are potentially five real photon sources in North America which could sustain active programs in intermediate energy nuclear physics over the next five to ten years. The characteristics and planned programs for three of these facilities, the existing SAL and LEGS facilities, and a proposed TUNL/DFELL faciltiy, are summarized below, while plans for CEBAF and MIT/Bates are presented in Section 6.2. A relative comparison of the capabilities of all five of these sources for a number of typical experimental programs concludes this section.
