As noted earlier, the period since the previous long range plan has been characterized by a very substantial investment in new facilities. As a result, we now have three major, complementary facilities with remarkable capabilities that will support a broad-based attack on fundamental issues in nuclear science. In addition, nuclear physicists continue to make effective use of high energy facilities for carefully-chosen experiments.
