CEBAF at Higher Energies

The highest priority for CEBAF in the next five years is running of the presently-defined program of physics. This program implies running the facility as designed, at energies up to 4 GeV. It is timely, however, to consider the natural extensions to the capabilities of the CEBAF machine, and to consider physics goals that could be targeted. Looking to the medium-term future, CEBAF has begun planning for a doubling of its energy. Studies indicate that energies in the 8-10 GeV range can be achieved at modest cost, and will enable substantial physics gains.
