New Experimental Initiatives

There has been a large investment in the ``base" equipment for the three experimental halls at CEBAF, as outlined above. However, it will be necessary to add to this equipment to pursue new scientific initiatives, and to modify the existing equipment to keep its performance at the state of the art. Ongoing capital equipment funds of order $3.5M/year (shared between the laboratory and the users) will be needed for initiatives of this type. In this section we discuss briefly three examples already under development: a cryotarget for Hall A; a polarized photon source for use in conjunction with the CLAS detector in Hall B; and the G0 spectrometer for parity violation experiments in Hall C.
