12/21/07 - Lab Closing at 12:00PM

On Friday, December 21st, a power outage will occur at 12:00 noon to replace the aging electrical distribution equipment for the site. The following buildings will be without power: EEL, Test Lab, CEBAF Center, Buildings 31, 33, 52, 54, 57, & 59, Rad Con Trailers 52A, B, C, Trailers 34A, 34B, 34D & Safety Trailer (35). Electrical power will remain off in these buildings until late on December 31, 2007. No one will be allowed in these buildings until after 8:00 am on January 1, 2008. Additionally, the computer center will disable the site's network access at 12:00 noon for needed upgrades. Therefore, no computer access will be available for file systems, email and web servers. It is anticipated that the network upgrade will be completed with employee access resuming Saturday morning, December 22nd.

Because limited space is available to accommodate the impacted employees, a safe work environment can not be provided and computer access will be unavailable to all staff beginning December 21st at noon, the Lab will be closing at 12:00 pm. Specific timesheet charging instructions will be provided in a separate email from payroll.

For those employees who have requested time off for December 21st in advance, the time off charge will remain as vacation. As a reminder, students and casuals will not be compensated for time not worked.
