The Laboratory shutdown begins Friday, December 21st at 12:00PM. The Lab will reopen on Wednesday, January 2, 2008. December 24th, 25th, and 31st are holidays, as well as January 1, 2008. December 26th, 27th and 28th are to be taken as vacation days. Employees who do not have sufficient accrued vacation to cover the required vacation days must take leave without pay (LWOP).
Associate Directors must submit a list of those individuals who will be required to work during this period to Rusty Sprouse no later than Wednesday, December 19. The list will indicate what the individual(s) will be doing, where they will be working, when they will be working, and how the work will be performed safely and securely while the Lab is shutdown. The compiled list will be submitted to the Associate Director for Safety and the Lab Director for final approval.
It is understood that certain individuals may voluntarily decide to come to work during this holiday shutdown. Vacation and holiday time charging practices as outlined in the first paragraph must be adhered to. For safety reasons, individuals who do chose to voluntarily come to work must notify Security at x5822 upon arrival and departure, and give their location at the lab. This year it will be critical that all employees on site give proper notification due to the power outage impacting various buildings across the campus. Work may not be performed in buildings affected by the power outage without prior approval from Facilities Management and Safety.
During the shutdown, be aware there will be facility and infrastructure maintenance and energy saving measures in effect. Safe work practices per the ES&H policy must be adhered to.
