2008 Holiday Shutdown Schedule & Exception Process

2008 Holiday Shutdown Schedule & Exception Process

Attention All Staff:

The Laboratory shutdown begins Tuesday, December 23 at 5 p.m. The Lab will reopen on Monday, January 5, 2009. December 24, 25, and 31 are holidays, as are January 1 and 2, 2009. December 26, 29 and 30 are to be taken as vacation days. Employees who do not have sufficient accrued vacation to cover the required vacation days must take leave without pay (LWOP).

Associate Directors must submit a list of those individuals "required" to work during this period to Rusty Sprouse no later than 12PM, Monday, December 22. The list must indicate what the individual(s) will be doing, where they will be working, when they will be working, and how the work will be performed safely and securely while the Lab is
shutdown. If you "voluntarily" decide to come to work during the holiday shutdown, you must adhere to the vacation and holiday time charging practices outlined in the first paragraph. For safety reasons, individuals who choose to voluntarily come to work must notify Security
at x5822
upon arrival and departure, and give their location at the lab.

It is critical that all employees on site provide proper notification due to the power outage impacting various buildings across the campus. No one will be allowed to work in buildings affected by the power outage without prior approval from Facilities Management and Safety.

During the shutdown, facility and infrastructure maintenance and energy saving measures will be in effect. This means that building temperatures will be reduced and certain equipment will be turned off to save energy.

Safe work practices per the ES&H policy must be adhered to.
