Environmental Engineer seeks your pollution prevention input, submissions
Tuesday Feb. 5, 2008
The Hampton Roads Sanitation District wants to recognize special actions or projects that the Lab, you or your work group, has done to make Jefferson Lab a more environmentally friendly place. The HRSD realizes that one of the best ways to protect the community from environmental hazards is to encourage pollution prevention, and yearly it recognizes regional businesses and industry for outstanding pollution prevention initiatives.
Linda Even, JLab's environmental engineer, wants to know of any special actions or projects that you have accomplished during calendar year 2007 to prevent or reduce waste at the source, recycle waste materials, treat hazardous wastes to make them less toxic, or any innovative activity that reduces waste or pollution caused by waste streams.
Even would like to receive your input by Feb. 12. Call her at ext. 7308 or email her at LLE@jlab.org. The Lab has submitted projects for recognition before, including the acid neutralization system in Building 31 that significantly reduced hazardous waste generation in that area. This effort did not win the award that year, but the Lab staff members involved with the project were recognized for their initiative when they attended the annual HRSD Excellence Awards Ceremony.
Let Even hear about your 2007 P2 accomplishments, and she will work with you to get suitable HRSD or other recognition for your P2 initiative.
