Heat Advisory Today in Areas Adjacent to Newport News

Today's forecast calls for a high near 95 degrees, with a heat index near 100 degrees, for Newport News. Extensive areas adjacent to Newport News are under a National Weather Service Heat Advisory from noon to 8 p.m. Temperature and humidity levels will be unseasonably hot and potentially dangerous today and for the next several days.

Plan adequate rest breaks and greater-than-normal fluid intake if you are conducting outdoor work or indoor work in spaces that are not air conditioned. Bear in mind that most individuals haven't yet acclimatized to hot, humid summer weather. Wear suitable clothing and sunscreen to protect skin.
