Posted Oct. 10, 2012
Jefferson Lab employees, their immediate family members and users are invited to the Jefferson Activities Group Oktoberfest scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 24, from 3-6 p.m. in the field behind the SURA Residence Facility.
The Oktoberfest will feature Brunswick stew, chili, grilled foods and beverages, and games and activities for all ages. The games and activities are on the event poster and on the JAG webpage. Everyone attending (young, old and in between) is encouraged to wear a costume.
Volunteer participation is critical to the event's success, according to Bridget Paul, JAG chair. More than 50 volunteer positions need to be filled - ranging from food preparation and service to activities and arts & crafts leaders, and field set up, to clean up. The volunteer sign up list is live on the JAG webpage. Please volunteer just one hour of your time to help make this picnic a big success! Please sign up today!
In conjunction with the Oktoberfest, the JAG is sponsoring a food drive to support the Peninsula Food Bank. Please bring new, canned or boxed, nonperishable food items to the food drive drop boxes located in the ARC, SSC, CEBAF Center, Building 89 and TED lobbies. Food donation drop barrels also will be placed near the entry points to the Res. Facility field the day of the Oktoberfest. All donations will go to the Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula.
Parking for the Oktoberfest: Please park your vehicle in the CEBAF Center parking lot and walk to the field. Please don't park your vehicle in the Residence Facility lot or along Rattley Road.
Also during the Oktoberfest, the winning tickets will be drawn for the two iPads that are part of the lab's United Way fund-raising campaign. Tickets are $1 each and are available for purchase from 12-1 p.m. through Wednesday, Oct. 24 in the CEBAF Center lobby. All raffle ticket proceeds go to the United Way.
