Jefferson Lab Vacation Donation Program

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to offer another open enrollment session for the Vacation Donation Program. The enrollment session begins today, September 13, and will be offered through Wednesday, September 20, at 5 p.m.

The program is designed to provide financial assistance to employees during approved unpaid leaves related to a medical illness for themselves or an eligible family member. The employee must have exhausted all of his/her available sick and vacation leave and would otherwise be subject to a severe loss of income aside from this program. Other eligibility criteria must also be met. Details are available on the Human Resources/Benefits webpage.

During open enrollment, eligible employees will have the opportunity to anonymously donate vacation time in increments of four (4) hours to the vacation donation bank. An estimation of your cumulative vacation hours by the end of the calendar year is available to assist in your forecasting. The program requires donors to maintain a minimum vacation balance of 80 hours after the donation.

Once the session closes on Wednesday, September 20, all donated hours will be held in the Vacation Donation bank for use by eligible employees who are approved to become beneficiaries of the program.

Since the inception of this program in 2011, we have been able to provide approximately 1,800 total hours of donated vacation time to very grateful employees. Thank you all for your generous support!
