Today DOE has announced that it has awarded the contract for the management and operation of Jefferson Lab to Jefferson Science Associates, LLC, the team that included SURA and its partner Computer Sciences Corporation Applied Technologies (CSC). This team combines the science and academic focus of our current contractor, SURA, with the innovative management capabilities of CSC to provide the Department of Energy with the best of both worlds to take Jefferson Lab into a dynamic and productive future.
This is a time of excitement and change at Jefferson Lab, with the transition period for the new contract beginning Monday, April 17, 2006. I, as JSA President and as Lab Director, want to assure our staff, users, and contractors that management will work to make this transition as smooth as possible in order to be respectful of our world-class staff and to keep our focus on the important science that Jefferson Lab delivers. Information about the transition and how it affects you will be available April 17th on a special website, www.jsallc.org. The website will provide information and updates and allow you to have your questions about the transition process answered. There will also be a toll-free phone line available to you to address questions. Orientations for JLab staff will begin next week to help explain contract transition activities and what must be done by employees, users and contractors to successfully make the transition to the new contract.
I ask that you remain focused on performing your jobs effectively and safely during this time and work together to make the transition a smooth process as we move Jefferson Lab into the future.
