JLab Message from Hugh Montgomery: Voluntary Separation Program
While we are all excited about moving the Lab efforts forward into the commissioning phase of the 12 GeV upgrade along with the promise of a new era of science, we are once again facing the real potential for constrained federal support and tight budgets, making this transition even more challenging as we move into FY14. It is also incumbent upon us to operate the Lab as efficiently and effectively as possible.
Therefore, we will implement a Voluntary Separation Program (VSP). Our objective is to create the flexibility to develop the right balance of skills and staffing levels for the 12 GeV era of science.
The Lab’s management team has analyzed the situation, and we are seeking 35 volunteers for the VSP. A separation package will be offered to volunteers that participate in the VSP.
The VSP and its processes are identical to the VSP implemented in FY12. To provide you with more information we have included a link to the VSP website that details Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), benefits information, the severance calculator and a timeline of activities that should answer most if not all of your questions. Additionally, all information will be posted on Insight that will direct you to the site.
We realize there may be questions regarding the possibility of an involuntary separation program. No decisions will be made regarding an involuntary program until more is known about the FY14 budget.
