This composite portrait of Debra, incorporating her favorite color scheme, was developed in memory of her by Greg Adams and Joanna Griffin. Anyone who visited her office could quickly figure out that purple was her favorite color.
NEWPORT NEWS - Debra M. Stitts, 56, passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 15, 2007 in her home, with her family by her side. A native of Chicago, Ill., she was a long time Newport News resident, who worked as an Administrator at the Jefferson Lab.
Preceded in death by her father, James A. Robinson, and her mother, Elsie J. Haywood, Debra is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Edward Stitts; daughter, Neisha Lynn; son, Edreick James; step-father, Oscar Haywood; four grandchildren, Malik, Makiyah, Mackenzie and Imani; as well as many other loving relatives and dear friends.
A life celebration service will be conducted 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Peninsula Funeral Home Chapel by Father Kenneth Wood. Please note the service time is earlier than what was previously posted. The burial will immediately follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 11835 Canon Blvd. Suite A102, Newport News, VA 23606 or your favorite charity.
Arrangements are under the care of Peninsula Funeral Home, located at 11144 Warwick Blvd Newport News.
