Hurricane season begins June 1 and ends November 30. Jefferson Lab at this time has elevated its status to Hurricane Preparedness Condition 1 (HPC-1), is making basic preparations, and is monitoring the National Weather Service forecasts.
A brief presentation has been prepared to help you better understand Jefferson Lab's pre-determined Hurricane Preparedness Condition or HPC Levels; each level being associated with activities that progressively prepares the lab and everyone at the lab for evacuation in a timely and organized manner.
You may access this presentation at: https://jlabdoc.jlab.org/docushare/dsweb/Get/Document-60793/*.pdf
Hurricane Wardens have been assigned to designated areas at Jefferson Lab to ensure the timely preparedness of an area. A listing of the Hurricane Wardens can be found at: https://jlabdoc.jlab.org/docushare/dsweb/Get/Document-29080/*.doc
The lab will keep you informed when there is a need to elevate our preparedness level. Supervisors are responsible for ensuring individuals, equipment and associated operations under their authority are safe and secure prior to evacuation of Jefferson Lab (HPC-3).
