JLab volunteers help out at Boys & Girls Club Thrift Store during Day of Caring

Nine Jefferson Lab volunteers rolled up their sleeves and spent the day helping out at the Boys & Girls Club Thrift Store located on Warwick Boulevard on Sept. 9, the United Way’s 2016 Day of Caring.

The group spent the day greeting customers and people dropping off donations; sorting and organizing books, shoes and clothing; moving and reorganizing shelves; and washing windows.

Pictured above, from left to right, are eight of the volunteers:
DeAnn Maddox, Facilities Management and Logistics Division
Brandye Rogers, Human Resources/ Chief Operating Officer Division
Anthony DiPette, Engineering Division
Gary Vattelana, Engineering Division
Kim Pyle, Chief Financial Officer Division
Jeanette Covington, Chief Financial Officer Division
Mary Boggs, Environment, Safety, Health & Quality Division
Krystina Serafini, Human Resources/Chief Operating Officer Division
Not pictured: Joshua Cameron, Staff Services/ Chief Financial Officer Division

The group posed for this photo, standing in front of the thrift store and showing off their 2016 Day of Caring T-shirts.

The group felt it was a day well spent giving back to the community.  In addition, they had an enjoyable time, learned a little about the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, and met members of the lab community they didn’t previously know.

Each year, Jefferson Lab offers employees the opportunity to volunteer a day of their time for these caring efforts throughout the community. The only requirement is the concurrence by a volunteer’s supervisor.
