The Newport News/Williamsburg Airport has restructured its parking lots and fees with the recent opening of its new garage. Please note the new rates are listed below. Use care in differentiating between the short- and long-term parking lots because the current signage is not clear.
Last week a traveler exited the lot after returning from business travel and was advised that his 3-day parking fee was $230. He was parked in the short-term lot without realizing it. His charge was waived and the airport has now capped the daily short-term rate at $30.
New Parking Rates at NN/Williamsburg International Airport
* Free shuttle service to the terminal is provided from the garage and surface lots.
JLab will reimburse the Surface Lot/Long-Term parking rate of $5 max per day. Any parking cost incurred over that amount will require a written justification for consideration.
When you enter the parking lot, be sure to pay special attention to the posted signs. The left lane is for long-term parking at the $1/hour rate and the right lane is for short-term parking ONLY at the $3/hour rate. If you enter into the lot using the right lane by accident, you must exit through the booth and come back in -- in order to retrieve the right ticket. The first 15 minutes in the lot are free so you will not be charged if you immediately need to exit and re-enter.
To enter into the garage, drive up the hill past the terminal building, or turn left at the traffic light and follow H.V. Kelly Drive into the garage. You may also get to the Gloucester and Yorktown surface lots this way as well.
