Oktoberfest Set for Wednesday, Oct. 29. Volunteers Needed. Food Drive & United Way Raffle to be Part of Event. Join the Fun!

Jefferson Lab employees, their immediate family members, users and students are invited to the Jefferson Lab Activities Group (JAG) Oktoberfest scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 29, from 3-6 p.m. in the field behind the SURA Residence Facility.

A variety of foods will be available, including Brunswick stew, vegetarian chili, grilled hotdogs and bratwurst and assorted beverages. Games and activities -- for all ages -- are planned for the event. Everyone attending (young, old and in between) is encouraged to wear a costume.

Volunteers Critical to Event Success
Volunteer participation is critical to the event's success. More than a dozen volunteer positions still need to be filled –ranging from food service (replenishing food on food lines to assisting with children’s games and field activities to distributing ID bracelets and clean up. Food Drive Underway through Nov. 21
In conjunction with the “Oktoberfestivities,” we will be accepting donations in support of the local Peninsula Food Bank.  Please bring an unopened, canned or boxed, nonperishable food items to the Oktoberfest.  Food donation drop barrels will also be available in the ARC, SSC, CEBAF Center, and TED lobbies. All donations will go to the Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula.

United Way Raffle Ends at Oktoberfest
Also during the Oktoberfest, the winning raffle tickets will be drawn for an Apple iPad and two iPad Minis. The raffle is part of the lab's United Way fund-raising campaign. Tickets are $1 each and are available for purchase from 12-1 p.m. through Wednesday, Oct. 29 in the CEBAF Center lobby. All raffle ticket proceeds go to the United Way.
