Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day is April 25
The nation-wide Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day will be on Thursday, April 25, this year. Jefferson Lab has no formal plans for the day. However, Jefferson Lab parents/grandparents are welcome to bring their school-age children/grandkids to work for all or any part of the day. (School age is defined as 8-18 years of age, per the national Take Our Daughters and Sons To Work Day website.)
Parents are responsible for their children while they are at the lab. Children are not permitted in work areas that are restricted or have limited access due to technical or safety considerations. This includes, but isn't limited to Radiation Controlled Areas, construction areas, or any area requiring personal protective equipment (PPE) for entry. If you have any questions, please contact your Divisional Safety Officer or ESH&Q Liaison.
For instance: According to Mary Logue, ESH&Q Division associate director, children may not ride in JLab golf carts.
But, they are allowed escorted access on the Accelerator Site as long as they stay out of Radiological Control Areas (RCAs), construction sites, and any area where personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
A table has been set up in the CEBAF Center lobby (near the auditorium entrance) with hand out materials that may be of interest to students.
The cafeteria will have kid-friendly food on the menu that day.
