United Way Day of Caring and School Tools Drive

The Annual United Way School Tools drive is underway at JLab. Disadvantaged youth in Hampton Roads public school systems need your help as they prepare to head back to school. Collection boxes for donations of new school supplies have been placed in Building 85, VARC, CEBAF Center, and ARC lobbies. School supplies for students of any grade level may be placed in the boxes by COB Thursday, Sept. 6. Appropriate items include: pens, pencils, student scissors, crayons, spiral notebooks, 3-ring binders, binder paper, pocket folders, rulers, protractor/compass sets, etc. The United Way will collect and disburse the materials to area schools. For more information, call Tina Johnson, Human Resources, ext. 7611.

The annual United Way Day of Caring will be Friday September 7, 2007. Jefferson Lab has spaces for 20 volunteers to assist with moving furniture, repair of furniture, laundry, cleaning of the warehouse and other miscellaneous jobs around the Mission Daystar warehouse in Hampton. No prior experience is required. We do ask that all volunteers wear their Day of Caring shirts. If you wish to volunteer please fill out the attached form and send them to Tina Johnson VARC, MS28 , with your supervisor's approval by August 22, 2007 . Please remember that we must have your supervisor's approval in order for you to participate.
