Publications Refresher Course Offered on Dec. 11
Authors who need to brush up on their knowledge of the Jefferson Lab Publications System or who want to know more about DOE's PAGES will want to come to the next Publications Training and Refresher course on Monday, Dec. 11, at 11 a.m. in CEBAF Center room F228. Environment, Safety, Health and Quality

Minimum Clothing Requirements When in Experimental Halls
As determined by the hall leaders, with input from the hall work coordinators, effective Dec. 5, the minimum clothing requirements for individuals in the CEBAF Experimental Halls is as follows:

  • Hall A: Long pants, short-sleeved shirt, closed-toed serviceable shoes.
  • Hall B: Long pants, short-sleeved shirt, closed-toed serviceable shoes, hard hat.
  • Hall C: Long pants, short-sleeved shirt, closed-toed serviceable shoes.
  • Hall D: Pants, short-sleeved shirt, closed-toed serviceable shoes.

In all Physics Division work areas, the minimum clothing requirements will be subject to the task being performed, requirements presented in the Jefferson Lab ES&H Manual and the discretion of the hall work coordinator. Attire for tours will be determined based on the tour. These requirements are included in the linked Physics Division Work Governance Document.

CEBAF Begins Operations following Upgrade Completion
The world's most advanced particle accelerator for investigating the quark structure of matter is gearing up to begin its first experiments following official completion of an upgrade to triple its original design energy. CEBAF is now back online and ramping up for the start of experiments. Check out the full story.

Holiday Party on Dec. 9 for Jefferson Lab Children and the Young at Heart
The JAG Holiday Party is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 9, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in the CEBAF Center lobby. All employees, users and their children are invited. Families are encouraged to bring a new, unopened, unwrapped toy for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve's Toys for Tots toy drive. Get your child’s picture taken with Santa Claus; he plans to drop by with the snow dogs, Nikko and Tally. (Owners Dan, Physics Division, and Kim Young are members of the JAG Dog Club, and Nikko and Tally are trained service dogs). Come and enjoy holiday-themed games, crafts, balloons, face painting, a children’s bounce house and light snacks. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Reminder: JSA 2017 TIAA-CREF 401K Open Enrollment Ends Dec. 11
The 401(k) Group Supplemental Retirement Annuity (GSRA) Open enrollment for Calendar Year 2018 will be offered through Dec. 11. If you wish to contribute more or less than the 5 percent default contribution, or opt out of this program, you must enter the on-line system no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 11. All elections will be reflected in the Jan. 12, 2018, paycheck. For more information, see the full announcement.

Presentation: FEMA’s Hurricane Response in Puerto Rico
Steve Neilson, DOE Site Office staff member, will give a presentation on his temporary detail with FEMA during the response and recovery after the devastation caused by hurricanes in Puerto Rico on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 11 a.m-noon in the CEBAF Center auditorium. TIAA-CREF Individual Counseling Sessions Available on Dec. 14
TIAA-CREF is offering Individual Counseling Sessions at Jefferson Lab, where you can discuss your personal financial situation with a consultant on a confidential basis. The consultant will be available to discuss how to help you achieve your financial goals by investing in financial solutions, such as mutual funds, brokerage, life insurance and annuities. The holidays are here again, and with them come the yearly flood of electronic greeting card scams, phishing and cyber attacks. As popular as eCards are with your family members, friends and co-workers, they're even more popular with Internet fraudsters. Check out the tips on avoiding these scams online.

Red Cross Blood Drive Set for Jan. 5
An American Red Cross Blood Drive will take place at Jefferson Lab on Friday, Jan. 5, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in CEBAF Center, room F113. New and repeat donors are encouraged to attend. Walk-ins are welcome. Participants will receive a long sleeved T-shirt from the Red Cross. For eligibility and scheduling information, see the memo.

Mobile Mammography Unit Onsite Jan. 19, 2018
The Chesapeake Regional Mobile Mammography Unit will be stationed in the ARC parking lot on Jan. 19, 2018. Appointments will be available during the hours of 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Mammography detects breast cancer, and The American Cancer Society recommends scheduling your first or baseline mammogram by age 40. This service is open to everyone, as personal health insurances will be billed. To make an appointment, call (757) 312-6400 or visit the website at www.chesapeakemammo.com.
