Undergraduate interns present research at annual poster session

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Members of the media, family and friends are invited to attend the 2024 Summer Student Poster Session at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility.

What: A poster session featuring projects by science summer interns in nuclear physics, accelerator science, engineering, computer science and other fields. Interns will be available to answer questions about their work. Programs and participants are:

  • 24 DOE Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI) participants
  • 2 Community College Internship (CCI) participants
  • 2 Mexican Physical Society (MPS) participants
  • 10 National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) participants

When: Friday, Aug. 2, 11:45 a.m. - 1:15 p.m.

Where: Jefferson Lab
              CEBAF Center Atrium
              12000 Jefferson Ave., Newport News, Va.

Background: Dozens of students from around the country have spent their summer at Jefferson Lab studying a wide variety of research fields, from nuclear physics to technology transfer. This next generation of scientists and engineers will present their work in a poster session that promises a glimpse into future discovery as seen through the eyes of these young minds.
