We are excited to announce the forthcoming 2nd workshop on AI4EIC - Artificial Intelligence for the Electron-Ion Collider organized by the EICUG AI WG, that will be held at the College of William & Mary in Virginia on 10-14 October 2022:

https://indico.bnl.gov/e/AI4EIC

The event will be hybrid, both in-person and virtual, and we encourage in-person participation. This event follows the productive experience of the first AI4EIC workshop held virtually in 2021 at CFNS (https://eic.ai/workshops). The scope of this second workshop is to cover all active and potential areas of applications of AI/ML for the EIC. This will include accelerator and detector design (EPIC and potentially detector 2), connections to theory, analysis, reconstruction and particle identification, infrastructure, streaming and frontiers in AI/ML. During the workshop we will have AI/ML tutorial sessions provided by experts (academia, national labs, industry). The workshop will also host a Hackathon event.

AI/ML will be an essential part of all phases of the future EIC and is already contributing to its realization starting from the design and R&D phases. This workshop is a terrific opportunity to update the community on the progress of ongoing projects and plans regarding AI/ML for the EIC, with discussions on multiple cross-cutting topics that bring together theorists, experimentalists, accelerator physicists and AI/ML practitioners.

More info: Sessions will be held 10:00-17:00 (Eastern Time) on each of the days of October 10-13. The entire day of October 14 will be dedicated to the Hackathon. All discussions will be plenary. The afternoon of October 13 will be devoted to discussing the AI4EIC path forward and next steps for the community.

All the best,
Cristiano Fanelli, Tanja Horn for the EICUG AI WG (https://eic.ai)
