Software Meeting Minutes - February 19, 2004

Attending: Abdellah Ahmidouch, Eric Clinton, Rapheal Demirchyan, Dustin McNulty, Mark Ito, Itaru Nakagawa, Dave Lawrence, Aram Teymurazyan

Agenda:
1. Nominate Secretary
2. Approve last week's minutes
3. Modification to Agenda
4. S/W port to RedHat Enterprise Linux: Mark
5. Pair Spectrometer monitoring: Aram
6. HyCal Reconstruction: Dustin, Raphael
7. Beam line instrumentation from TAC and MC study: Itaru
8. Other task list items:

1. ---> Raphael is nominated.

2. ---> Aram's minutes are approved.

3. ---> Dave suggested two brief items to add into item 7. (7.1,7.2: look below)

4. ---> Mark shortly presents instructions for PrimEx software using the RedHat Enterprise Linux build.

5. ---> Aram presents the list of histograms for PS monitoring. Dave suggests to add a histogram showing PS channel/paddle occupancy distribution. PS calibration technique via the calib_macro.C file presented: the file allows to get the TDC offsets for for any subsystem (in principle).

6. ---> Dustin presents new analysis of HyCal reconstruction, namely pio inv. mass and angular distribution. Data were used from Raphael's MC files. Pion inv. mass is ~90 MeV, too low ... can not be affected by taking or not into account calibration constants. Angular distribution of reconstructed pion events was presented also. Raphael suggested to make comparisons of reconstructed data with generated quantities. And, have a realistic cluster energy cut (not 25 MeV).

Raphael presents th cluster finding scheme. It is algorithmic and cluster neighborhood is determined by event-by-event basis. Dave suggests to put the clustering information in the database to make possible comparisons with Dustin's code.

7. ---> Itaru presents further analysis on TAC ADC spectrum and beam collimator MC simulations. New, more realistic, collimator material (Au+C)improves the MC estimation for the fraction of photons lost passing through collimator.
for 8.6mm coll. data/mc ~3/(1-2)
for 2.6mm coll. data/mc ~35/25
Itaru finds ~1-2% collimator effect on TAC ADC cut. Statistically, this statement has to be proved. TAC ADC spectrum is not understood yet: number of "strange" peaks...

Added items in Agenda: 7.1, 7.2

7.1 ---> Dave: short report on the status of developing tools for translation table management. Suggestion is, update tables "continuously", not during the special runs as it use to be.

7.2 ---> Dave: short report on Random PEV access. Work is partly done. Most likely we'll able soon "pick up" particular events for displaying via PEV and on the screen we'll have more information (for HyCal: number of clusters, pio energy, angle ...)

8. ---> A decision is made organize a meeting on event sample generation problems/tasks next week. Sub-committee: Dave, Raphael, Dustin,Itaru, Aram.

Meeting adjourned about 5pm.
