Exhibit: High-Energy Lab Tours for Kids

Kids can learn about high-energy electron beams and get their faces painted at the same time at an open house Saturday at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility in Newport News. Visitors will be able to see the electron beam accelerator and other experiments that researchers are using to study subatomic particles. The lab will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for tours, along with a variety of hands-on activities. NASA, the Portsmouth Children's Museum of Virginia and the Virginia Air and Space Center will have displays at the event. Public parking will be at Patrick Henry Mall just off Interstate 64 at Exit 255A. Special-event Pentran buses will shuttle visitors between the mall parking lot and the lab. For more information, visit Jefferson Lab's open-house Web page at www.jlab.org/openhouse/ or call the lab at 269-7689.
