JLab Wireless Network Changes Go Into Effect Monday

On Monday, Dec. 7, the CNI group will finish the upgrade of JLab's wireless network. This new system will allow the group to expand coverage and increase security. To ensure a smooth transition, the wireless network 'jlab_secure' will remain in service for now.

Here are your options for connecting wirelessly next week:

- If you have a current JLab username and password, you can connect to the new wireless network 'jlab'. Once you have successfully connected, you will then need to register your laptop by going to http://reggie.jlab.org. The reggie webpage should appear once you have connected to the network and opened a browser.

- If you have a current JLab username and password and encounter a problem connecting to the new wireless network, you may instead connect to the current 'jlab_secure' wireless network. Users who encounter issues connecting to the new 'jlab' network and who choose to continue connecting to 'jlab_secure' will gradually be migrated to the new network with assistance from CNI staff.

- If you do not have a JLab username and password, connect to the wireless network 'jlab_guest'. You will need the encryption key, which can be obtained by contacting the Helpdesk at x7155.

If you have any questions regarding these changes, e-mail the Helpdesk at helpdesk@jlab.org.
