Test Lab Event- 10/25/2007

On Thursday afternoon, October 25, an Institute for SRF technician experienced a brief skin exposure to BCP (Buffered Chemical Polish, an acid mixture) while working in the Test Lab's Production Chem Room. The technician realized that the BCP splashed under his PPE faceshield and had contacted the exposed skin on his neck area. SRF, industrial hygiene, and Lab management staff immediately responded using prescribed Lab emergency procedures. First aid measures were immediately taken and the worker transported to a local hospital emergency room for an additional assessment where he was subsequently released for duty. A complete event report will be posted next week on the ESH&Q website at http://www.jlab.org/div_dept/dir_off/oa/notable/index.html
