Incident Information
On December 1, 2006 an FEL control room operator discovered that a
non-JLab technician was in FEL Lab 1 post-sweep on Friday morning. The
FEL operator made this discovery after laser beam was energized to Lab 1
for about one minute. There was no laser exposure or worker injury due
to the protective barriers in place and the configuration of the room.
Upon discovery the lasing was immediately stopped and remains secured
pending event investigation completion. FEL lasing will not be initiated
until senior lab management has ensured controls are in place to prevent
recurrence.
This event will be reported to the DOE occurrence reporting system.
