Education

Science Education staff support a range of educational programs

Science Education staff support a range of educational programs. One popular program is the Physics Fest, seen here. K-12 classes take field trips to Jefferson Lab for this interactive program designed to give students an awareness of the research conducted at Jefferson Lab and to demonstrate the changing characteristics of materials caused by temperature and phase.

Jefferson Lab is committed to providing training and education to the next generation of scientists, mathematicians and engineers, and those who teach them. The lab provides a variety of programs and educational opportunities for students in grades K-12, as well as for undergraduates, graduate students and postdoctoral researchers. At Jefferson Lab, students and teachers gain access to leading scientists, world-class scientific facilities and instrumentation; and large-scale research programs that are unavailable at universities or in industry.

You can also click here to jump directly to the lab’s Science Education website, where you will find an education events calendar, games and puzzles, as well as resources for students and teachers.

Undergraduates, Graduates, Postdocs

If you are an undergraduate, graduate or postdoctoral student who will be conducting research or visiting the lab for an extended period, you need to visit this page to complete required forms and to learn in more detail about what is expected of you. Please note that visiting students and scientists who conduct research at the lab are known as users, and Jefferson Lab is a user facility, meaning it is open to scientists around the world who use the lab’s unique facilities to conduct research.
