Cumulative Time Worked Represents Nearly 2,100 Years of Service to Lab
One hundred thirty-six staff members were recognized for their years at Jefferson Lab during a series of four 2017 Service Awards events held in early February. Jefferson Lab staff members who had achieved 5-, 10-, 15-, 20-, 25- and 30-year employment anniversaries were recognized at the events, according to Krystina Patrick, administrative assistant for Human Resources.
The cumulative time worked by this year's recipients totaled 2,085 years of service to the lab. Award recipients and their respective supervisors attended three different events hosted by laboratory leadership and planned by Human Resources staff.
"The format of these events has evolved over the years from a single, lengthy recognition event held in the auditorium to this multi-event format," Patrick said. “Attendees appreciate that these events have been designed to offer awardees a more intimate, social experience where they can share their favorite memories or stories, and catch up with colleagues who are spread across the lab."
An ice cream social was held on Feb. 6 to recognize the 18 staff members receiving 5-year Service Awards. Brunches were held Feb. 7 and Feb. 8 in honor of 48 10-year and 24 15-year award recipients. The week was concluded on Feb. 10 with a memorable lunch to recognize the nine 20-year, 29 25-year and eight 30-year Service Award recipients.
Deputy Director for Science Bob McKeown and Human Resources Director Rhonda Barbosa kicked off each event with brief remarks about the changes that these groups had experienced during their time at the lab.
Each award recipient received a framed certificate acknowledging their years of service to the lab, and picks an award memento from a selection of four items.
