Jefferson Lab Prepares for 2017 Hurricane Season: June 1-Nov. 30
The National Weather Service has determined “Hurricane Season” to be June 1 through Nov. 30. The forecast for the 2017 Atlantic Basin Hurricane Season predicts 11 named storms and four hurricanes. Jefferson Lab participates in observing this season by elevating its preparedness level to Hurricane Preparedness Condition 1 (HPC-1) on June 1. The Emergency Management Team will inform the laboratory community if there is any reason to elevate the lab's preparedness level. This is the time to make sure the lab is ready to deal with hurricane weather. See the full memo for more information.

Extech Recalls Digital Clamp Meters Due to Electrocution Hazard
Extech is recalling digital clamp meters model numbers EX650, EX655, MA160, MA61, and MA63. These models are all AC/DC clamp meters, which are electrical testing devices that measure AC/DC voltage, resistance, capacitance, frequency, temperature, continuity, and diode. Serial numbers in the following format are included in the recall:  R15XXXXXXX to R17XXXXXXX. Only serial numbers in this range are included in the recall. The “EXTECH” logo and the model number are printed on the front of the unit and the serial number on the back. The digital clamp meters are green and orange.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled digital clamp meters and contact Extech for a free replacement meter. Extech has received two reports of clamp meters displaying an incorrect voltage reading. No injuries have been reported. These meters were sold at Grainger, Platt Electric Supply stores and industrial and electrical distributors and wholesalers nationwide and online at Amazon.com and other websites from January 2016 through April 2017. They were manufactured in China. For the full CPSC report and details for return and replacement, visit the link.
