Safety Incentive Program

OBJECTIVE:

Jefferson Science Associates’, Safety Incentive Award Program provides the opportunity to recognize the contribution of those whose innovative ideas and original processes result in improved safe behavior.  The level of recognition is defined by the impact of the behavior, activity, or accomplishment.

SCOPE:

All employees and users are eligible for “On-the-Spot Awards,” but only employees are eligible for Safety Achievement or Director’s Safety Awards.

Awards are presented, as soon as practical, after the initiating event.

Award recipients (Safety Achievement or Director’s Safety) are featured in the Weekly Briefs, a Jefferson Lab Lessons Learned and, if appropriate, submitted to the Department of Energy National Lesson Learned database.

The absence of occupational injury/illness, near misses, or accidents is not adequate as sole justification for an award.

Recognizes individuals who have gone significantly above and beyond their normal job duties to achieve a major safety related accomplishment. Award: $100 (after tax) award, presented in recipient’s next pay period check; a “Director’s Safety Certificate;” and a featured write-up distributed via the Lessons Learned Program.
