Alignment Metrology Group

MISSION

The Survey and Alignment Group is responsible for the positioning and alignment of beam line components in the CEBAF accelerator, endstations and the Low Energy Recirculator Facility (LERF).

In addition to the positioning of beamline elements, the group's activities include the fiducialization of components, the layout of floor locations, and the alignment of stands and supports. We are also involved in surface topographic surveys and layout.

The group uses a variety of equipment and techniques, from traditional jig transits and electronic theodolites to laser distance meters and coordinate measuring machines.
