To Public Parking for Jefferson Lab's Open House
From northern Virginia/Washington, D.C.:
- Take I-95 south toward Richmond
- Just north of Richmond, take I-295 south (toward Norfolk, Newport News)
- Take I-64 east to Newport News
- Take exit 256A Oyster Point and immediately get into either of the two far-left (turn) lanes
- Turn left at stoplight -- onto Canon Blvd. (If you miss this turn, go up to next stoplight (Compass Way / Village Green Parkway) and U-turn)
- Immediately get into left lane on Canon Blvd. Go less than 0.1 mile and get into left turn lane and turn left (at the first light) onto Old Oyster Point Rd.
- Go 0.2 mile on Old Oyster Point Rd. and make first available right (into the Canon Virginia parking lot)
- Follow special event parking signs.
From Richmond or western Virginia:
- Take I-64 east to Norfolk, Newport News
- Take exit 256A Oyster Point and immediately get into either of the two far-left (turn) lanes

- Take exit 256A Oyster Point and immediately get into either of the two far-left (turn) lanes
- Turn left at stoplight -- onto Canon Blvd. (If you miss this turn, go up to next stoplight (Compass Way / Village Green Parkway) and U-turn)
- Immediately get into left lane on Canon Blvd. Go less than 0.1 mile and get into left turn lane and turn left (at the first light) onto Old Oyster Point Rd.
- Go 0.2 mile on Old Oyster Point Rd. and make first available right (into the Canon Virginia parking lot)
- Follow special event parking signs.
From downtown Newport News, Hampton:
- Head west on Jefferson Ave (route 143, west)
- After passing through Jefferson Ave./J.Clyde Morris intersection, get in right lane. Go approximately 1 mile and get into right turn lane and turn right onto Middle Ground Blvd (stoplight).
- Go approximately .0.7 mile (to 1st stoplight) and get in left lane.
- Turn left onto Canon Blvd.
- Get into right lane. Go approximately 0.9 mile and turn right onto Old Oyster Point Rd. (2nd stoplight)
- Go 0.2 mile on Old Oyster Point Rd. and make first available right (into the Canon Virginia parking lot)
- Follow special event parking signs.
Free Shuttle Bus Service to Event from Parking Lot
Free public parking will be at Canon Virginia, located at 12000 Canon Boulevard, in the Oyster Point area of Newport News, Va. Follow the event parking signs onto Old Oyster Point Road to access the Canon Virginia parking lot.
Visitors may arrive between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. and stay until 4 p.m. Free charter bus service will transport visitors between the Canon parking lot and Jefferson Lab (about a 4-minute bus ride) from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. The last bus bringing visitors to Jefferson Lab will depart the parking lot promptly at 2 p.m. From 2-4 p.m. the buses will only return visitors to the Canon parking lot.
Individuals under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Carry-on items and IDs will be checked by security officers before visitors board the bus.

What to Bring, What Not to Bring
Bring your camera. Wear sturdy, comfortable walking shoes, and sunscreen and sun glasses or a rimmed hat and protective clothing (a long-sleeved shirt to keep sun off).
Don't bring: Alcohol, firearms, weapons and pets are not permitted.
