Description

The cryogenic control software for the GeN target runs on an VME-based MVE162-232 input-output computer (IOC) located in the Hall, on the target platform. The computer name is VMEC4 (129.57.168.104). The operating system for the IOC is VxWorks, and the EPICS software must be loaded onto the IOC each time it is rebooted. This is an automatic process, and is performed from the JLab Accelerator server, OPServ. The boot directory is /cs/op/iocs/vmec4. Additional information can be found online at http://devweb.acc.jlab.org/internal/llapps/hcptarg/0.html.

Most of the data acquisition and communication is performed with the use of several GreenSpring Industry Packs (IPs) mounted on the IOC board itself, or on an IP carrier board (see table below). The JT valves are controlled by a JLab constructed VME card, labelled ``IO-Flex''.

Slot Board Industry Pack Description
1 IOC IP-ADIO #1 Analog & Digital Input-Output
    IP-ADIO #2 Analog & Digital Input-Output
2 IP-Carrier IP-Octal 8 channel RS-232 communication
    IP-Stepper #1 2 channel step motor control
    IP-Stepper #2 2 channel step motor control
3 VMIc232 na 32 channel 5 Volt relay board
4 IO-Flex na 4 channel JT valve controller
