Building 35: Pre-Fire Plan

    Response Action:
    1. Make initial assessment of the situation.
    2. If warranted call 9-911 and report fire.
    3. Evacuate occupants.
    4. Report to assembly point

    Access:
    There are two doors on the south side, facing the cooling water towers. Another door is on the north side of the building, opening out towards the Test Lab. There is a roll-up door at the east end.

    Exposure:
    There is close exposure to the Test Lab and moderate exposure to transport trailers and the cooling water towers on the other side of Cornell U. Road. There is moderate exposure to the Chemical Storage Building.

    Cautions:
    Household chemicals and calibration gases for calibrating industrial hygiene instruments will normally be in the building.

    Occupancy:
    The building is used as an office, a calibration lab, and a class room. There are two offices, and the class room seats about twenty people. Class room use is sporadic.

    Construction:
    This is a one-story, three trailer complex. It has steel underframes, pressed wood floors covered with tile, aluminum siding, and an aluminum roof.

    Fire Protection:
    There is a water sprinkler system installed. There is a fire alarm system with three pull stations, three smoke detectors, and a fire alarm panel. There is a fire hydrant near the east end of the building. There are three dry chemical fire extinguishers inside the building.

    Loss Potential:
    The building contains up to four computers, a class room projector, and a large proportion of the industrial hygiene instruments and calibration equipment on site.
