Earth Day 2006
This year Earth Day will be celebrated a little differently than previously at Jefferson Lab. April 20th is "Take Our Children to Work Day" and what better way to educate our children about environmental issues than to introduce them to programs in place at Jefferson Lab and throughout Hampton Roads?
During lunch time, bring yourself and your children to CEBAF Center to learn more about stormwater pollution prevention, recycling and reducing, and to learn about some elements of environmentally friendly lawn care and gardening. Also included in the planned Earth Day activities is a walking tour, with trash bags in hand, around the outer site walking path, for those individuals who would like to participate.
Tables to peruse include:
- Stormwater Pollution Prevention (P2) information table
Learn more about stormwater pollution prevention and what you can do to help. We may also have a suggestion box for P2 or site improvement suggestions… to consider doing here as resources allow. - The City of Newport News will have an information table for children and adults which will include recycling and reducing the use of hazardous materials for lawn care
- Two or 3 master gardeners from York County will be here to answer horticultural questions and to talk about plant/gardening issues.
