Rotation of the asymmetry

We always relied on the fact that our measured asymmetries A_long (along the beam line) and A_perp (perpendicular to the beam line) can be rotated to the Ax and Az using simple rotations.

However, I checked the theory (Golak's paper) and realized, that the expression for the asymmetry contains angular dependence not only in the numerator but also in the denominator. This means that rotations can be performed only for the in-plane kinematics when phi* = 0,180deg.

Please see the pdf with formulas for the asymmetry: AsymmetryRotationProblem.pdf

Simon I I will use Golak's calculation to check if this is true, or if rotations work for any value of the angle phi8. Solution to this problem is, that we do not perform rotations, but use calculations, that correspond exactly to our experimental configuration. Last modified: 03/28/12
