Once Virginia's colonial capital, and a catalyst for American independence and democracy, Colonial Williamsburg today is a living, working 18th century town as well as a world-class cultural and historical institution. Located on 173 wooded acres, Williamsburg features over 500 buildings and 90 acres of landscaped gardens. Highlights include the Governor's Palace, the Capitol, Bruton Parish Church, the Courthouse and the Raleigh Tavern (http://www.history.org). In addition to its own charms, Williamsburg is located conveniently close to the region's many other attractions, including Jamestown, Yorktown and the Virginia Beach resort area. Weather October is Virginia's driest month, so you can expect clear blue skies and bright fall weather (but it never hurts to bring an umbrella). Evenings are sometimes cool, while daytime temperatures could easily range into the 70s or higher. With its formal gardens and tree-lined streets, Williamsburg is best toured on foot, so bring casual dress and comfortable walking shoes. Williamsburg Forecast by Intellicast Fort Magruder Inn
