Subject: The Unreasonable Effectiveness of Hydrodynamics in Heavy Ion Collisions at Ultrarelativisitic Energies
Speaker:Raju Venugopalan
Brookhaven National Lab
Date:Wednesday, April 3, 2013
Time:11 A.M.
Place:CEBAF Center Auditorium
Abstract:Raju will describe how bulk phenomena in heavy ion collisions are described by the relativistic viscous hydrodynamics of a nearly perfect fluid. The role of scattering, plasma instabilities and the possible existence of a turbulent attractor in the strongly interacting Quark-Gluon plasma will be addressed.
