NASA Langley Research Center Brown Bag Workshop

NASA Langley Research Center, Hampton VA, will hold a meeting/workshop on "Nuclear Physics Issues in Radiation Shielding Assessment" and invites participation from people interested in the general area of heavy charge and energy collisions (HZE) leading to the fragmentation, break up, scattering and absorption of the colliding nuclei. The issues of particular interest are:

    • Total, elastic, absorption and fragmentation cross sections for collision systems of ions from n, p up to Ni from 1 A MeV to 5 A GeV.
    • Spectral distribution of producing particles
    • Multi-particle fragmentations
    • Production of nucleon resonances and mesons
    • In-medium effects in the production processes
    • Cluster effects and quantum multiple scattering methods
    • Any other related phenomena

Problems of mutual interest may lead to possible collaborative work. For further information, please contact:
