The e-HUGS 2021 will host a seminar session that will take place the last two afternoon of the school and a poster session on the afternoon before. All the students are invited to give a seminar or a poster - preferably in the format which they are less familiar with. The participation is strongly encouraged: consider this as an occasion to practice some of the soft-skills that are required in our job in a familiar and safe environment.
Deadlines to remember
- New --> Poster/seminar abstract: Thu, June 3 at 11:59 pm ET.
- Poster file: Mon, June 14 at 8 am ET (to Alex, only .png or .jpg format).
- Talk slides: on Indico, 1 hour before the start of one's session (.pdf format is best).
Abstract Submission
Please fill the following google form by June 3 at 11.59pm ET. In the form you need to insert your name, which kind of presentation (seminar or poster), the title and a short abstract to describe your research.
We would like to encourage you to choose the format you are less familiar with, so you can try it in a supportive environment - but ultimately the choice is yours.
Note, however, that due to the high number of participants we have a maximum of 36 seminar slots and 30 poster slots available. Therefore, we are able to give everybody the possibility to present their work, but we may not be able to give the choice to select your favorite exposition method. The poster/seminar format selection will be made on a first arrived first served basis, based on the timestamp on the registration form. We will inform you as soon as possible on which kind of presentation you will give us.

Seminar session and prize
The seminar session will be hosted the last two afternoon of the school and it will be will be held on the BlueJeans platform. We ask you to upload the slide on Indico at least 1 hour before the start of your session. The session will be divided in 15 minutes time slots: 12 minutes for your presentation, and 3 minutes for questions and discussion.
Remember that the best three seminars will be awarded with HUGS presentation prize. We will post soon in this page how we will select the winners. We are looking forward to tell us what cool research you are doing at your home institution!

Poster session and prize
The poster session will be hosted June 16 from 1:30pm ET and it will be held on gather.town in the poster session room (the indication on how to reach it in the gather map are super clear). Since we need to upload the poster in gather and organize the room, we ask you to send your poster to Alex not later than June 14 at 8 am ET in PNG or jpeg format only.
We will assign to all posters a number, so you can find it in the gather poster session room. For each poster there will be a private area in which only the people who are in watching at the poster can hear and talk each other. Unluckily, gather does not allow you to watch the poster without participating to the conversation, so we will post the poster also on the indico page if you want to read them at your own pace. In any case, the poster session room will be open any time, so you can enter and enjoy any poster whenever you want!
We will have an award for the three best posters. We will ask you to give to a committee a very short presentation (5 minutes) in front of your poster and then to answer some questions (5 minutes). We will post soon on this page how we will select the winners. This is the first year we have a poster session in HUGS! Do not miss the opportunity of being the first ever winner of the HUGS poster prize!
