AI Townhall and Hackathon 2021

Jefferson lab is hosting a virtual AI town hall on July 26, 2021. This is an opportunity for all the staff and collaborators/users working or planning to work on AI to present a 5 min lightening talk on their projects. There will be a one day virtual AI hackathon on the following day where people from all skill levels are welcome to join. Tutorials on Jlab Jupyterhub and GPUs will be presented at the beginning of the hackathon. Please click here to register for the events. The AI town hall is scheduled for 2:00pm-5:00pm EST on Monday, July 26, 2021

The AI hackathon will begin at 8:00am EST on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 and the schedule for the hackathon is as follows

8:00 am Welcome Session
8:10 am Tutorial on JLab Jupyterhub and GPUs and short introduction to machine learning
8:30 am Introduction to hackathon problems, scoring criteria and submission process
8:45 am Teams formation
8:55 am Breakout rooms assignment and start development

Pre-Hackathon Tasks

1. Find the Jupyterhub

If you have a JLAB CUE account (i.e. you have a jlab.org email address) and are not familiar with JLAB’s JupyterHub, please confirm you can start a session by following directions here: https://scicomp.jlab.org/docs/JupyterHub. You may need to contact the helpdesk: helpdesk@jlab.org.  

 

 2. Already have your Hackathon team or working on your own? 

Let us know your, or your team details by emailing jlabaihackathon@gmail.com , the following information:

  • Team Name
  • Participant Name(s), Email(s), and AI experience level (beginning, intermediate, or experienced)

 

3. Looking for a Hackathon team to join?

We have scheduled time for team formation Tuesday morning and we will do our best to help facilitate experience-balanced teams. Feel free to email jlabaihackathon@gmail.com if you have questions about finding a team.

 

4. Are you intermediate or advanced in AI and don't have a team? 

If you are intermediate or advanced in AI and don’t yet have a team, please let us know at jlabaihackathon@gmail.com so we can try to connect you with individuals or teams that could benefit from your experience.
