Acecelerator Semniar: Seminar: Developments in Nb3Sn SRF cavities
Jefferson Lab SRF institute is advancing superconducting RF technology for accelerator applications. A host to superconducting CEBAF accelerator, Jefferson Lab contributes broadly to current SRF projects worldwide, such as ILC, LCLS-II, HL-LHC, etc. Since 2012 Jefferson Lab has an active R&D program on Nb3Sn coatings for superconductingaccelerating structures, which could potentially replace niobium as the material of choice for SRF accelerator applications.Starting with R&D single-cell development, we are implementing the best Nb3Sn coatings onto practical accelerator cavities towards cryomodule integration. In my presentation I will give a short overview of the current state-of-the-art, discuss the opportunities with Nb3Sn, and present our status and progress in Nb3Sn development over the past several years.
