Why:
The goal of this program is to help ensure that new and exciting technologies Jefferson Lab researchers are developing achieve their full potential to benefit the U.S. and humanity. Our technology transfer program helps bridge the gap between new science and commercial applications. Researchers have a role to play in that transition and this program will help them build skills and expand networks.

What:
Four 1.5-hour sessions focus on how to effectively engage with companies poised to partner with Jefferson Lab.

With an emphasis on developing practical skills, the topics include:

• Benefits of commercializing our innovations
• Describing your technology to potential partners/licensees
• Determining a technology’s market fit
• Effectively and comfortably engaging with industry partners
• Understanding relevant entrepreneurship and licensing concepts for your work

Note: A follow-on workshop series for those who want to put the lessons learned into practice will begin in late February. That series will include focused mentoring for teams of inventors. Attendance at this series is required to be eligible to participate in the focused mentoring workshops.

When:
Four Fridays from 11:00am to 12:30pm

• January 29 – Put industry engagement in context and learn commercialization essentials
• February 5 – Effectively describe your technology to potential partners/licensees
• February 12 – The how-to of effective industry engagement
• February 19 – Applying entrepreneurship concepts
