Starting in FY19, the IT Division will no longer install Windows 7 on new or existing systems. All builds and rebuilds will be Windows 10 only. In general, all systems older than 2012 should be excessed. For systems with newer hardware, the IT Division recommends the following as the minimum requirements to rebuild your system to Windows 10.          i5 Processor          4GB RAM, but 8GB recommended          128GB hard drive          Must have trusted platform module (TPM)          Must support Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI)          Must support Preboot Execution Environment (PXE) Since Dell is our primary source for systems, you may refer to their webpage for Dell computers tested for Windows 10. This webpage contains model numbers for all Dell systems that have been tested for Windows 10. To see all models, select 'Show All' after the Option 2 section.  On their site, Dell explicitly states, “If your device is not listed in the tables below, Dell is not testing the device and drivers will not be updated for that model.” If drivers do not exist, then the IT Division will not be able to rebuild your system to Windows 10 and should be replaced. All lab-managed systems running Windows 7 after the EOL date will be blocked from the network. If you have questions or concerns about what this announcement means for systems within your division, contact the IT Division Help Desk for more information. » Read more 1309 reads Adobe Products End of Life Through scanning of Jefferson Lab-managed systems, the IT Division has discovered numerous outdated Adobe products on-site. These outdated versions are a security risk and should be replaced as soon as possible. If you have an Adobe product installed on your Jefferson Lab system, visit Adobe's End-Of-Life page and search for your product name and version number. This information can be found in the Help menu of your Adobe product. All Adobe products that have reached their 'End of extended support' date should be replaced. For Adobe Reader, you can install the supported version on your Windows machine from the Control Panel under Programs and Features, 'Install a program from the network'. All other Adobe products that were purchased, and are associated with a license key, must be purchased again if they are beyond their support date. Please visit Adobe's product catalog webpage - http://www.adobe.com/products/catalog.html. This purchase should be made with a Jefferson Lab credit card, or you can submit a Purchase Request (PR) with the appropriate product name and version number. If you have any questions or concerns about this replacing your end-of-life Adobe products, contact the IT Division Help Desk. » Read more 1620 reads REMINDER: Office 2016 Available to Install for Windows Systems Users of Office 2010 and earlier should consider upgrading to Office 2016.
