Newport News, VA. — News Media representatives are invited to interview, photograph or film participants of Jefferson Lab's summer, science enrichment programs as the high school and college students share their summer experiences and projects with Jefferson Lab staff during a Poster Session scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 4, from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the CEBAF Center lobby.
A dozen high school seniors participated in the Lab's summer honors program. And, nearly two dozen college students took part in JLab summer programs: some, preparing to become the next generation of science teachers took part in the new Pre-Service Teachers program, and others participated in the Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internship, which is geared toward undergraduates who are pursuing a career in science or technology. In addition, 16 middle-school science teachers participated in the Teacher Academy in Physical Science experience.
Many of the participants are from this area, while others journeyed from as far as Utah, Minnesota and New Jersey. The programs directly involved them in the culture, activities and science of a national laboratory. Many participated in projects or research involving accelerator engineering, experimental research, free-electron laser projects and computer programming.
