  • Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson Lab) is located at 12000 Jefferson Avenue in Newport News, Virginia. The main entrance to the facility is on Lawrence Drive.

  • Exploring the Nature of Matter
Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson Lab) is a U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science national laboratory. Scientists worldwide utilize the lab’s unique particle accelerator, known as the Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF), to probe the most basic building blocks of matter - helping us to better understand these particles and the forces that bind them - and ultimately our world.

  • Promoting Technological Opportunities and Mentoring Tomorrow’s Scientists and Engineers

Jefferson Lab provides far-reaching benefits for our community, the Commonwealth and our nation, all while providing a unique research capability for the more than 1,500 researchers who use lab facilities to conduct experiments.

  • The labs annual plan helps guide the lab and it's management as a world-leading research institution for exploring the nature of matter in depth, providing unprecedented insight into the details of the particles and forces that build our visible universe inside the nucleus of the atom.

  • Usage of the Jefferson Lab Logo - The following examples demonstrate correct use of the lab logo. Requests to use the Jefferson Lab logo by outside entities for conference posters, advertisements, presentations, websites, or other communications may be granted for one-time use on a case-by-case basis.
