Mid-Act 2024 - A workshop for Mid-Career Women in Physics Collaborations
Mid-career women in physics collaborations face strikingly similar challenges across different collaborations and subfields in particle physics, nuclear physics, and astronomy. UT faculty and partners have developed a pilot workshop to get to the root of these challenges and find solutions to mitigate them.
With an emphasis on recruiting at the student level there's been a slow increase in the number of early-career women in physics. As they enter the mid-career stage, however, they...
The 7th International Workshop on "Transverse Spin Phenomena in Hard Processes and the Transverse Structure of the Proton" Transversity 2024, which will take place in Trieste, Italy, from June 3-7, 2024.
The scientific program will be devoted to critical reviews of the latest experimental and theoretical results in the fields of transversity, transverse-momentum-dependent distribution and fragmentation functions, and generalized parton distribution functions. Future research directions, both in theory and experiment, will also be central themes.
The International Workshop on Partial Wave Analyses and Advanced Tools for Hadron Spectroscopy (PWA13/ATHOS8) is a joint meeting combining the 13th International Workshop on Pion-Nucleon Partial Wave Analysis and the Interpretation of Baryon Resonances (PWA) and the 8th Workshop on Partial Wave Analysis Tools for Hadron Spectroscopy (ATHOS). It will take place at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, in proximity to the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson Lab). Previous editions were held at University of Bristol (2021), CBPF in Rio de Janeiro (...
61st Course of the International School on Disarmament and Research on Conflicts (ISODARCO)
Subject: Nuclear Order and International Security after Ukraine
ISODARCO 2024 will examine the global nuclear order in light of the Ukraine war, focusing on the states, the policies and the technologies that will shape the future in a much more difficult environment.
This year's physics program celebrates our vibrant and productive 12 GeV program at Jefferson Lab, and will feature fresh physics results from around the lab. We will have presentations from laboratory management and our funding agencies. The JSA Thesis and Postdoctoral prizes will be awarded, and we are planning to have talks related to contributions of users and the laboratory to the EIC.
The Chesapeake Section of the American Association of Physics Teachers (CSAAPT) is convening a meeting at Jefferson Lab to learn about the lab's research initiatives and take tours of the accelerator facilities. The objective is to equip physics educators with valuable insights to integrate into their classroom teaching. We are experiencing 150 or more physics instructors of all levels (K12, community colleges, universities) from all over Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia.
The 16th edition of the Pisa Meeting on Advanced Detectors will be held in La Biodola, Isola d'Elba, Italy, from May 26 to June 1, 2024. We are planning to organize the meeting around the following sessions:
Detectors Techniques for Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics
