The Chesapeake Section of the American Association of Physics Teachers (CSAAPT) is convening a meeting at Jefferson Lab to learn about the lab's research initiatives and take tours of the accelerator facilities. The objective is to equip physics educators with valuable insights to integrate into their classroom teaching. We are experiencing 150 or more physics instructors of all levels (K12, community colleges, universities) from all over Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia.
The 16th edition of the Pisa Meeting on Advanced Detectors will be held in La Biodola, Isola d'Elba, Italy, from May 26 to June 1, 2024. We are planning to organize the meeting around the following sessions:
Detectors Techniques for Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics
Jefferson Lab is organizing a four day tutorial course based on Geant4 version 11.2. It will cover all the application domains including high energy and nuclear physics, astrophysics and space engineering, medical applications, and newly arising industrial applications.
The lectures will cover all aspects of the toolkit of Geant4 version 11.2 from basic installation through advanced topics including multi-threading and variance reduction options, and will be interspersed with hands-on sessions that build a progressively more complex application extensible to real use. The course...
On Monday, Feb. 5, at 1 p.m., Peter Blunden of Manitoba University will present “A Novel Approach to the Global Analysis of Proton Form Factors in Elastic Electron-Proton Scattering” in CEBAF Center rm. L102 and via Zoom.
Abstract: A global analysis of elastic electron-proton scattering requires combining data sets from experiments with different overall normalization uncertainties. In this talk, I will discuss a novel Monte Carlo approach to such problems that is a modification of one...
Conveniently located off Interstate 64 in Southeastern Virginia, Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport is the closest airport to Jefferson Lab, just a 15 minute car ride. With nearly 50 flights a day with connecting service to hundreds of cities worldwide, you can get anywhere in the world from Newport News.
Co-Chair: Andrew Hutton Principal Scientist at Jefferson Lab, Newport News, Virginia; Andrew has more than 40 years' experience in all aspects of forefront accelerator projects. He came to Jefferson Lab to lead the commissioning of CEBAF, a 6 GeV, recirculating superconducting...
The 2024 International Topical Meeting on Nuclear Applications of Accelerators conference will follow the usual format of plenary and parallel sessions.
The call for abstracts will open July 10, 2023 and will close on December 2, 2023. Exceptional contributions may be promoted to a plenary talk by the Program Committee. All accepted talks and posters will be allocated space in the published proceedings of 2024 International Topical Meeting on Nuclear Applications of Accelerators. The proceedings will be published in an open access journal after...
